He was nominated for four awards at the 2006 Billboard Music Awards, including male artist of the year, rap artist of the year, hot 100 single of the year, and pop single of the year for his hit "Temperature". He also won an American music Award for "(When You Gonna) Give It Up To Me" beating Kanye West and Nick Lachey who were also nominated for the award.

Sean Paul often contributes his songs to various Riddim Driven albums (by VP Records). In March 2007, he returned to his native Jamaica to perform at the Cricket World Cup 2007 opening ceremony.

In October 2007, a music video for Sean Paul's new single "Watch Them Roll" was leaked to the internet.

 

Sean Paul Is featured in the dancehall music track and video of "Hot Winter Medley" by Bling Dawg.

 

In 2008 Sean Paul was featured in a collaboration with controversial dancehall artist Mr. Evil, titled "Back It Up".

He has been in the studio with Ashanti helping her record her album "The Declaration" for the past two years which is due out in June 3,2008.

 

The video for "Get Busy" (directed by Little X) was shot in Woodbridge, Ontario, a Toronto suburb, and released in February 2003. The video was also nominated for two MTV Video Music Awards for Best Dance Video and Best New Artist in 2003.

  • It is currently being used to support Carl's Jr milkshake ads, in which a guy is shaking a cow to the song.
  • It was also used in the game Dance Dance Revolution Extreme 2.
  • Part of the song was played on Pico's Cousin 2 when Otis would smoke weed to boost his health.

    "Like Glue" is the third single by Sean, from his second album Dutty Rock. The song has two censored words in the edited version: Trees in the chorus, when he says Need a lot of trees up in my head, and chronic in verse 2, when he says after a chronic we tek a drag, both referring to the cannabis drug. In the music video, instead of Sean Paul singing verse 3, Paul's brother Jason shouts out dances, and the dancers in the video perform them accordingly. While the 4th verse is the repeat of verse 1. The song uses the "Buy Out" riddim.

    In "I'm Still In Love With You", Sean Paul and a female counterpart are discussing a stalled and seemingly unfulfilled relationship. Paul's character is trying to persuade her to keep the relationship going; the girl seems willing to but clearly wants more, though she wants Paul to know she still loves him. This song is a cover of a Marcia Aitkens song with the same title.

     

    There are three official versions of the song "We Be Burnin'":

    • "We Be Burnin' (Recognize It)" - the album version.
    • "We Be Burnin' (Legalize It)"
    • "Legalize It (Bubble Up riddim)".

    The main difference between the 'Recognize It' and 'Legalize It' version is a change in the chorus lyrics to make the single more radio-friendly. While not explicit, 'Legalize It' contains lyrics that are suggestive of the legalization of marijuana.

    In every country where it was released, "Ever Blazin'" was a top 20 hit.

     

    "Temperature" (second version) is on da film "Norbit"

    "Temperature" became Sean Paul's biggest hit single in the US. In Australia it became a smash hit, with Sean Paul making interview appearances on the Paul Celoni Radio Show, and shows alike. Even though it only spent one week at #1, as opposed to "Get Busy" and its three weeks on top, "Temperature" showed extreme longevity on The Billboard Hot 100 spending an amazing 17 weeks in the top 10. Until Nelly Furtado and Timbaland's "Promiscuous, this was the longest run in the top ten for a single in 2006. On top of that it became Sean Paul's first single to sell an excess of one million digital downloads . However, as of January 2006 is still only certified gold for this achievement.

    "Never Gonna Be The Same" is a tribute to his murdered friend, Daddigon. The song also refers to other several notable Jamaicans who are deceased, including Father Bogle, Simpleton and Peter Cargill.

     

     

     

    The single to be released after "Temperature" was meant to be "Breakout", but was switched to "Give It Up To Me" to promote the film "Step Up". The video was recorded in a gym, which the director describes as "fun and exciting." Sean Paul and Keyshia Cole dance throughout the video, usually separate, and with their own dancers. Around the middle of the video, the two stars of the new dance film, Step Up, Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan, Drew Sidora appear. The song was used with a Shane Sparks routine on the Second Season of So You Think You Can Dance. The routine was used for the Top 20 on the final results show. The song was also used during the evening gown competition in the Miss Universe 2007 pageant.

    The music video for "Give It To You" directed by Melina and produced by John Winter, features cameo appearances by Swizz Beatz, Kanye West, Drag-On & Cassidy.

    At the 2006 Jamaican Awards, Sean Paul got an award for Best Hardman.

    His brother Jason and his best friend Zameer Masjedee helped Sean open up business connections.

    He was closely connected to a reggae-pop band, Third World.
